Denmark vs Republic of Ireland
UEFA Nations League
Date: Monday, 19 November 2018
Kick-Off at 20:45 EAT
Venue: Ceres Park (Arhus).
It’s been a dismal campaign in the inaugural Nations League edition for Republic of Ireland. The Boys in Green took only one point from three games and lost all hopes of challenging the top spot and the promotion to the top tier league even before the last round fixture on Monday night against Denmark.
Martin O’Neill’s men were struggling badly to score goals in recent outings. They failed to find the back of the net in October’s pair of fixtures against Denmark (a goalless draw) and Wales (a 0-1 defeat). The visitors took just one win in last nine outings in all competitions (counting friendlies). They lost five of past eight and will come into this in the lowest of spirits.
Denmark vs Ireland: Head-to-head
Irish fans can still certainly remember the painful 1-5 defeat their team suffered in the World Cup Qualification play-offs reverse fixture in Dublin in November last year.
Interestingly, two of last three H2H games between the two teams ended in a goalless draw.
The draw was the most frequent of scenarios when these two likes came across each other over the course of history. As many as 7 of 16 H2H games saw no winner.
Denmark vs Ireland: Prediction
Rep of Ireland should face huge troubles to create in the final third on Monday evening given they are about to play a rock-solid defense of Denmark’s on the occasion. The hosts were well capable of keeping things quiet at the back recently. They kept three consecutive clean sheets against Wales, Republic of Ireland and Austria, winning two and drawing one of these three outings in the process.
O’Neill is forced to give opportunity to younger players here as he will be without the likes of Shane Long and Jonathan Walters in the final third. It is a massive blow for the Irish team and we just can’t see them pulling off a result in Arhus.
Denmark vs Ireland: Bet Tips
Denmark to win @ 3/5 (1.60)
Denmark to keep a clean sheet @ 1.83 (5/6).
